How many times have you put off attempting to organise or re-organise your financial arrangements? It is something that we often intend to do but for some reason procrastinate over, perhaps because we have so much data to go through or haven’t got the time/inclination to do so. This problem is generally compounded by the numerous pieces of paper we collect over our lifetime; each and every investment has a document to accompany it and then there are ‘contract notes’ for sales/purchase, compliance papers, quotations and estimates and probably the most complex of all, the monthly statements or valuations. In the most part is not only difficult to comprehend the financial Jargon utilized by the investment provider in the statement, which typically has little in common with that of other providers, but these statements tend to also reflect ‘out of date’ pricing and exchange rates which can misrepresent the true value of the investment.
Additionally, one can collect investments from all over the world, in various formats, currencies and written under legislation that is not necessarily recognized by similar institutions in a new location and these investments for some reason, seem to have anomalies when it comes to talking to ones existing bank, financial adviser or wealth manager in so much as these institutions can decline or refuse to offer their opinion.
One of the largest frustrations to international investors is the difficulty in administering their wealth and managing their paperwork. Products and services change rapidly and what might have been in favour at the time of investing may not be today. Although financial institutions will train staff on basic financial products and there formation, it is not normal practice to train staff specifically on historical products and as such it is much more likely that they will be trained on existing products and services. It could be said that old or obsolete services invariably fail to produce new income for a financial institution.
Jigsaw constantly meets with clients that relate to the above situation. It would appear that one of the largest frustrations to international investors is the difficulty in administering their wealth and managing their paperwork.
